2018 Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Secondary School Summer Advanced Aerial Photography Training
Once students had mastered basic aerial photography techniques, they were no longer satisfied with indoor or on-campus shooting. Therefore, during the summer of 2018, we led a group of enthusiastic students from Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Secondary School to various locations across Hong Kong, including Tai O and Peng Chau, for outdoor filming. We strongly encouraged students to explore different environments and terrains outdoors after becoming familiar with basic aerial photography operations, capturing unique perspectives and visuals. During the training, students experienced filming seascapes, mountain views, and wider urban panoramas, which felt fresh and exciting.

Our instructors provided hands-on guidance throughout, offering professional filming tips and advice to ensure students captured satisfactory footage outdoors, keeping post-production material abundant.
In addition to aerial photography, the course also included ground-level filming. Students learned how to use professional cameras and gimbals for outdoor shooting, enriching the visual environment of their work and enhancing its overall quality.

After completing all filming, students practised video editing, including adding background music, colour grading, and programme sequencing to transform raw footage into finished products. The final output from the training was used as a promotional video for the school’s aerial photography club, showcasing students’ learning outcomes and creative expression while promoting the club within the school to attract interested peers.

We can customise different outdoor aerial photography training sessions to help students produce the work they envision. Outdoor aerial training not only allows students to improve their skills through hands-on practice but also cultivates their teamwork and creative expression abilities under greater autonomy, laying a solid foundation for future photography and video creation.
