2021 CUHK FAA Thomas Cheung Secondary School — Aerial Video Production and Editing Workshop

At CUHK FAA Thomas Cheung Secondary School, our INSPIRE education team delivered a special aerial video production and editing workshop for students aged 14 to 16. The workshop totalled 8 hours, divided into 4 sessions. Class size was limited to 14 students to ensure each student received ample learning opportunities and guidance.

The workshop covered drone technology and related STEM knowledge, giving students the opportunity to understand the basic working principles of drones and related science, technology, engineering and mathematics knowledge. Safety regulations and Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department requirements were also explained in detail, ensuring students understood the rules and precautions for drone operation.

For hands-on practice, students received training with both small drones (Tello EDU) and professional drones (DJI Mavic series), gaining practical drone operation experience. We also introduced the various functions and operation methods of professional drones, including DJI Go 4 Apps, GPS, VPS, IMU, RTH and battery management.

Additionally, we taught cinematic camera movements and techniques, enabling students to capture film-quality footage using drones. Within the school, students had the opportunity to carry out themed productions, operating drones for filming and applying their knowledge to solve real-world challenges.
