From Speechless to Confident — Interview Skills Workshop at PLK Wu Chung College
Entering Form 4 marks the beginning of senior secondary school. Whether it's the DSE Speaking exam, JUPAS university interviews, or competing for leadership positions, students face the same recurring challenge: "How do I express myself confidently in front of strangers?" INSPIRE instructors returned to PLK Wu Chung College to deliver a communication empowerment and interview workshop for Form 4 students — preparing them for every interview opportunity they may encounter in school, further studies, and future careers.

Interviews and discussions are never about testing how many scripts you've memorised — examiners don't want to see rote recitation. True communication is the transmission of ideas, emotions, and intentions. This programme doesn't aim to turn you into a cookie-cutter speech machine; it empowers you with genuine communication skills so you can present the most authentic and outstanding version of yourself, even under pressure.
We understand the anxiety students feel when facing all-English settings or stern examiners, so the course takes a practical, battle-ready approach, breaking down every critical aspect of interviews:
Reading the Examiner's "Hidden Agenda"
When examiners ask about your expectations or experiences, what exactly do they want to hear? We teach you how to identify the motive behind questions — whether they're assessing your adaptability, organisational skills, or values — so you can hit the mark every time.
Dual Strategy for DSE & University Interviews
DSE emphasises language and interaction, while university interviews focus more on critical thinking and values. We show you how to switch strategies for different battlefields, analysing topics from stakeholder perspectives (students, schools, society) to demonstrate depth of thought.

Golden Speaking Frameworks (A.B.E & PEEL)
Mind gone blank? We teach practical expression frameworks. Use the A.B.E method (Acknowledge, Bridge, Extend) to gracefully build on others' points instead of just saying "I agree"; and the PEEL structure (Point, Explain, Example, Link) to ensure your content is substantive and logically rigorous.
Emergency Rescue for "Dead Air"
What happens when discussions hit a wall? We teach you how to become a constructive leader, breaking the silence with a single sentence (e.g. suggesting a new discussion angle) and demonstrating your leadership.
Presence & Non-Verbal Charisma
Interviews aren't just about what you say — they're also about your tone, facial expressions, and body language. We guide you on using eye contact, appropriate smiling, and confident posture to build the examiner's trust.

We firmly believe that communication is an indispensable soft skill for thriving in future society. Through this course series, we help students learn to structure their language — whether presenting opinions, highlighting strengths, or answering questions — so they can think fluently and deliver unassailable points. The speaking techniques covered in class also help students think on their feet, handle differing opinions, and engage in rational discussion.
Beyond verbal skills, making a strong impression through attire and body posture is equally important. We share practical tips on interview dress codes and body language, preparing students from the inside out.
Form 4 Exclusive: Mock Group Interview
Theory alone is never enough. In the final session, we prepared a hands-on opportunity — a mock group interview. We designed a series of group interview questions covering current affairs and common topics, providing realistic scenarios for practice. After each group finished, instructors gave feedback from a boss and interviewer's perspective, offering specific areas for improvement.

Through this course series, we hope students truly master structured expression, quick thinking, and group discussion skills — knowing how to present themselves confidently and methodically in different interview scenarios, handle disagreements, express viewpoints, and enhance their overall impression with professional appearance and body language. After the course, students are not only less fearful of interviews but also clearer on how to prepare and improve, taking a critical step towards their future in education and careers.
